The majority of people traveling to work usually interact with a car, an elevator, and a secretary but that wasn't the case for the submersive six. Only they were "fortunate" enough to have a trip to the office that involved a submarine. The job lasted three months during the summer break and typically attracted university types. Sure the site was off the coast and adjacent to the university, but the reason college kids signed up wasn't because of proximity. No, you'd have to have a still developing brain to be daring enough to sign the final non-disclosure document and suit up to go under. What awaited you at your office was a pitch black abyss, inhabited only by the creatures that evolved in order to survive there, which apparently meant surrendering their attractiveness. Ocean Eyes

The waves of the sea crest in your eyes It's sea foam white Changes in the light From azure topaz in the day To royal navy in the night How many have fallen in And remain adrift In the current that circles The black hole? I wonder as I float, If I'll ever know My mind is a beacon That beckons rescue Only to have my heart Flip the switch off And at this rate, I will be forever lost In the tepid tide that rolls with the moon In the vast expanse Of the tiny ocean Rushing in your eyes Pulling me to you

It Is

It is a gaping whale's mouth Sucking in the cold ocean In search of some krill A crystalized cavern Draped in shadows Full of the unknown It breathes and lives Sometimes it changes skins And travels far But you'll always know where it's been Because it's always where you are It's a gravitational pull A swirling black hole Pulling stars and debris in Never letting go A necessity A burden It is a symbol of status For which we hunt In a money fueled jungle Where more is never enough Reach inside and pull out Something different each time But it's still not what you were Looking to find It is both a convenience and a curse It is a female necessity Chosen selectively It's the subject of this verse The cause of your perplexity It is a purse.
