Concentration Crisis

I teach high school English and I also tutor elementary and middle school students. No matter what the age group, I see a common and alarming trend among children. They can't focus! These kids, our kids, are being affected by two pervasive things: instant gratification and constant stimulation. They get what they want, when they want. So when they come to school, they expect to run the show, which just isn't how it works - at school or in life. They talk back to teachers, question why they have to do assignments, argue about their grades, turn in assignments late and detest having to focus. It's no wonder that teachers are jumping ship right and left. Believe it or not, there once was a day when kids were respectful, did not question their assignments or grades, did not badger their teachers to grade faster, did not bring weapons to school or start fights, did not wage an electronics war or refuse to work. Twisted

Bad Friend: You know the worst type of friend? The worst type of friend is the kind you confide in, the kind you tell personal things to and then turn around and realize that they are throwing those things back in your face in a spiteful way. That is a mark of a truly twisted person. This person will also not likely take what they are saying into consideration before saying it. They will say what they wish to say without thinking about how those things will affect the receiving party. There can be two reasons why they do this: 1) They are stupid 2) They put themselves first and it's not that they don't know how powerful their words are; they just don't care. Weird Friend: A weird friend is a friend that you know you probably shouldn't be friends with. Say, someone like an old high school teacher. It's probably creepy to be friends with them on facebook and message them 3,000 times. That person is most likely a creepy creeper. Especially if they stalk your bl...
