Collegiate Chaos

One day in the summer before you begin college you will be sitting at your desk ordering as much collegiate paraphenillia as possible. You will be pumped about beginning your higher education!

And then three and a half years later you will find yourself a jaded senior, sitting in your media law and ethics class hoping that your prof won't notice that your on blogger.com attempting to keep up your blog.

It's not that a law class is boring...I just have a rather fast moving mind and a deep love of multitasking. Just sitting down and listening/taking notes just isn't stimulating enough for me. And being on a laptop and unable to doodle, I have turned to my neglected blog to satiate my mental needs.

Anyway, back to the discussion...about college. I'm at a private university so keep that in mind.

So you probably know that Junior year in college is the hardest right? Well...wrong. If you think you're going to sit back and enjoy your last year in college you are sadly mistaken my friend! Even being over 21 I can't even enjoy it because all of my spare time is spent either studying or taking glorious naps.

In case you're wondering, the classes I'm taking are: Media Law and Ethics, Writing for Strategic Communication (AD/PR), an APP development class (for iPhone/iPad/Android), Modern Art from 1965-Present (to finish my art minor) and of course there's my PR internship. Oh yeah, and I'm in a sorority, a PR club and am joining another club!

So here I am, a senior, taking pretty difficult classes and constantly running back and forth between my internship and campus. Trekking around in the heat...changing into work clothes in my car...and living off energy bars...it's a trip.

Over the summer I had an internship as well. So I went from an academically difficult Junior year to an internship over the summer, to this crazy senior year. Before I got the summer internship though I had a glorious month off. I'm really missing that month right about now.

So here I sit, in two hours of class among the seven I will get to experience today. Also today I will get to experience meetings from 5-6pm and 8-10:30 meetings. I'm tired just summing it all up. Lucky and unluckily for me I live on campus. So I have the convenience of being here already and the extreme inconvenience of trying to find parking....

But parking will be a whole 'nuther post...believe me.

The main message to glean from this entry is that there are no breaks in college...unless of course your major is a joke or your at a school that has more than one C in its name. This semester is just plain crazy. I have learned that the Senior year in college is anything but a party. But it is bearable. The upside to all of this madness is that the semester is moving rather quickly.

Naps, coffee, Ben & Jerry's, TCU and Steeler's football, Kit Kat's, doodling, phone calls, friends and Spongebob have kept me sane in these crazy five weeks... I feel like my schedule/life reflects a Jackson Pollock painting right now...

So I am taking this moment, literally within one of my classes, to vent about all of this and to warn ye younger college students that whatever expectations you have about your Senior year...throw them out the student union window.
