Writing/Art

Image
I feel like it's been a really long time since I've written a blog post. I guess that's what happens when you start another blog (or two). I don't even know what to write right now. Not every piece of writing can be a stroke of genius, and I feel tapped out. Between the art I churn out non-stop and the writing I do for myself...I'm tired. It's a good distraction though...writing, blogging, art, SAT tutoring, art tutoring. It keeps my mind off the fact that everything's going to change. But hey, who doesn't love drastic life changes? Oh right...everybody. Haha. All I can think right now is that I'd love to go home. That and I ate way too many toffee-flavored, chocolate covered almonds. So instead of putting into words the past (however many) weeks, I thought I'd just slap up some photos. The probability that anyone is reading this is likely slim, but I don't really care. This post is for me - so I don't forget the good things tha...

Birthday Post

I share too much, or so I've been told. I've been warned about internet creepers and creepers in general. But before my birthday, I like to look back at the past year and see what's been accomplished/what I'm grateful for. It's good to write this shit down now, before I forget it. 1) Landing two awesome jobs. One full time, one part time. My coworkers are awesome at my real job and at my less real job, I've learned that I've got what it takes to guide 50+ tipsy adults through a painting. 2) Getting published twice. Once in a poetry journal and once in "Review of My Cat," which you can buy HERE . 3) Having an online presence! My little baby blog surpassed 11,195 visitors this year! AND, a grand total of 48,475 have read my fanfiction, from last December to today.       My favorite drawing from this year: My favorite painting from this year: 4) Being in a TV commercial and working at a place where there is an abundance of...

Life is full of ups and downs, these are the ups. Welcome to the family C.C. Man, it'll be hard to miss this bright blue on the road. While not enamored with the Ford dealer, the end result was worth it.  Because I have somehow managed to become a full-blown Trekkie...I used my art skills for the power of good and painted Spock (Zachary Quinto), and then the next day painted Kirk (Chris Pine). Both paintings were started and finished in the same weekend :D   Finding out that you're getting published never gets old. I can't believe that one of the poems I wrote for this very blog is ending up in a book :D Painting plates never gets old. Seeing the finished product is always worth the hours spent meticulously painting small details. I got this message literally today. I've never had a review make me feel so fantastic.  Man, I love to write What a great trip. IKEA can really put on some cool...

The Lime Light

There have been some exciting developments this month! Namely that I'm getting published again and that there's a very good likelihood I will be in a TV commercial!! It was an ordinary Tuesday at work when we got an email that they were doing  a commercial shoot at our store. So my coworkers and I meandered down to the lobby and were a part of a group commercial shoot. It may have been a good sized group but I'm right up front and wearing orange; I'm hard to miss. And I had submitted something to a blog...and they didn't publish it online. I was bummed until they emailed me and told me they wanted to use what I wrote in a book they're publishing. The book is a collection of submissions by their fans/readers. So I'm pretty excited! And I just thought I'd share that excitement with you. So...yeah...that's about it.

The following are things I like/snippets of my life: Me about to teach class. What we painted... Two tiny paintings I did A creepy dude I drew (above) and a painting I did of Pittsburgh (below)    My story stats. I was pretty happy breaking 8k in one month. FUNNIES: Did I mention that I'm getting published again? Give you a hint...it's something I wrote that involves my cat, Sweetie. So apparently I missed my calling :P I took a Suits quiz to see what kind of lawyer I'd be. And while Louis is TERRIBLE and I don't agree with the last four words, it was a pretty good quiz.  Suits, Mike and Harvey, I'm going down with this ship
