The Blacklist

If you haven't seen the Blacklist finale and don't want to be exposed to spoilers, you best move along…

Okay, so the Blacklist finale was everything I hoped it would be and more. We, the audience, have finally gotten an answer to the very important question: is Red her father? The answer of which is a resounding NO. Am I proud of myself for calling it a season ago? Of course.

And while Lizzington fans rejoice, Ressler/Keen shippers aren't so happy. Not only did Liz re-unite with Tom (which just goes to show that he has no problem taking advantage of her when she's emotionally compromised) but Ressler is now going to be the one "hunting" her down.

So where is the show going to go from here? Agent Keen is no longer an agent - which shifts the entire paradigm of the show. Here's what I see the Blacklist focusing on next season:

1. Finding Answers - Liz searching for more answers about her parents and about Red. Remember, we still don't know anything about her parents or why Red is so involved in her life.

2. Clearing Her Name - Red and Liz working on clearing her name. Perhaps by the end of next season, they will have figured out a way to prove her innocence and she will return to the task force?

3. Fending Off/Undermining The Cabal - Surely there are very few corners of the Earth where Lizzington can hide without the Cabal finding them. What will Red, Liz, Cooper and the journalists do in order to stop this powerful organization, and who will get killed trying?

4. Tom, Ressler and Cooper - Tom's still out there, and maybe he will find a way to help Liz…or maybe (as most hope) he'll just ride off into the sunset by himself. And Ressler is undoubtedly torn by the fact that he has to hunt down Liz. In his mind, he's either he's a horrible agent who didn't realize Liz was a double agent or she's not guilty. Hopefully he has a few brain cells in that pretty head of his. And poor Cooper, does he still have a job? Will he work even harder to undermine the Kabal now that he knows they faked his illness?

No matter what next season holds, Lizzington fans are satisfied that daddy-gate (the theory that Red was her father) is now deader than dead. And although it's hard to see Red leave Dembe, it's clear that Liz is Red's first priority if he's willing to fall into oblivion with her. Hopefully next season will see them becoming even closer.

I personally would like to believe that there's a slow-burn love story growing beneath the intricate maze that is The Blacklist.

Red and Liz just ran away together. Let that sink in.
