Living in Texas

One thing's for sure, there is no other state in the US quite like Texas. Enjoy a journey with me through this super-sized southern state with these catchy gifs/images.

Texas is a truly odd place. You may live out in the middle of absolutely nowhere, or in the center of a mega-city. I've had the distinct privilege of experiencing both. If you're in the city, you really need to enjoy spending serious quality time with your car.

Also, people are really serious about their Texas pride. As a Pittsburgh transplant, what really threw me was the fact that we have a special pledge of allegiance for Texas. One thing's for sure, you don't want to come between a Texan and their pride. This guy insulted Texas:

Texans also take their guns really seriously. I personally recommend the Glock 19, but Chuck Norris likes to take it to the next level:

It is really…really…really hot. Well, I mean, it snows in the panhandle and sometimes in North Texas, but otherwise, it's unbearably hot.

In the rare instances that it does sleet/snow in southern Texas, everyone will suddenly forget how to drive. Also, all the winter supplies will quickly disappear from every store as if an ice age has stricken us.

It takes like 100 years worth of driving to get out of this state. (Going from Corpus Christi to Oklahoma City will take you about 9 hours. Or, if you want to go from West to East - from El Paso to Shreveport, LA will take you 11 hours.) If you don't like driving, this isn't your state.

There are a lot of great schools, colleges and medical facilities (I mean, if you're like close to a city - not out in the middle of nowhere).

Living in the panhandle looks something like this: Don't live there.

A lot of people live here. And more and more are moving here every second of every day of every month of every year.

Contrary to popular belief, we do not ride horses everywhere.

So, if you're looking to visit Texas, come on down and experience spicy food, rodeos, pick up trucks galore, southern charm, traffic, great sunsets, Texan pride and a profuse use of the word "y'all."
