The Fallout

***I am so excited to announce that one of my recent poems is being published and advancing to the semi-final round of the National Amateur Poetry Competition! To celebrate, I thought I'd write a poem! Thank you for your continued support!***

Cat got your tongue?
Your thoughts came undone
You came here for fun
But it's not what you found
In this bar you can't hide
behind a technological glow
Your feet want to run
But I've seen you, you're bound.
We're in the same space
Breathing the same air
Nervous eyes stare
at my wide open face
And I issue the dare
to say out in the open
what you wrote in cyber space
I don't think you can
You're a child of a man
Ill-equipped for reality
Unprepared to run into me
To summon the things you said
And say them aloud
And have them cataloged in my head
The ground it feels like sinking sand
You stare into molten brown eyes
That contain neither hurt, anger or lust
It's disconcerting what you don't find there
It's just a swirling heat of lava
Wrapped in a logical, waiting stare
I break the silence once again
Step closer to you, to the end
And ask once more, "do you dare?"
