Review of the Samsung Note III
I was a die hard Apple fan. I still have a mac and an iPad, and I was hesitant to switch phones. But the new iOS 7 murdered my phone. I had no memory left, I had to delete a bunch of crap to download the upgrade, and then once I got the upgrade, it sucked the life out of my already crappy battery.
My iPhone was under 2 years old and it was struggling just to get through the day. I wouldn't even touch it during the day, save to make a phone call at lunch, and it would be down 20% or more after lunch. I was charging it four times a day and constantly closing every running background task. It was a hot mess.
So I got fed up and went to my phone provider, who handed me a Note III and told me that it has the best battery life of any phone out there. The battery itself is nearly as big as the iPhone - and I love it.
It's functionality and capabilities are unmatched, and all of it is supported on a battery that won't poop out on you after checking Facebook once.
One of the best things about the phone is the S Pen. It's able to communicate with the phone simply by hovering above it. It helps you not to lose it by setting off an alarm if it gets too far away from your phone. And my personal favorite use for this handy little pen is with my Sketchbook app. I drew this on my phone...no, for real...
A Few Features of the Note III
- Full HD 1920x1080 pixel resolution giving a pixel density of 386 pixels-per-inch (ppi) and all of that beautiful clarity is on a gorgeous 5.7" screen
- The base model of the Note III has as much storage as the mid-level iPhone: 32 GB (Also available is a 64GB version, and SD cards that can store 64GB)
- Dual band WiFi capabilities with WiFi Direct and WiFi Hotspot
- Multiple screen use lets you do more than one thing at once, by having many screens open and operating
- Camera is a 13-megapixel back-illuminated sensor with a single LED flash plus both 1080p and 4k video capture. Read more about the camera: http://tinyurl.com/qjrh92w
- S Pen with AirCommand capabilities (you don't even have to touch it to the phone) - with it you can jot down notes, save memos, draw, open new windows and apps, write/type, and so much more
- S Voice - basically like Siri, except less creepy and actually knows what you're saying
- The Galaxy Gear Smart Watch is made to accompany the Note III, and is totally bad-ass
- Really cool apps
This phone is incredible. You will be made fun of for the size, but don't worry about it, once you show off the oodles of awesome features, people tend to shut up about the size. You could probably write a novel off this thing. The charge lasts for two days easy, the screen is crystal clear, the memory space is vast and there's a ton of little cool features. I probably still have a lot to learn about it, but I love my phone and I'm glad that I hopped off the iPhone train.
My Grade
A+
