What a day, what a day, what a day! Yesterday was nuts.  Friday night I (was so tired that I) went to bed at 7pm and woke up at 7am to make baked goods to take to the old folks home. Disaster #1: While the cupcakes I made were perfect, the brownies were way undercooked and inedible. Disaster #2: The venue for my b-day party called THE DAY OF THE PARTY and wanted to move my party up a half hour. So I had to call everyone and tell them about the time change. It kept a few people from coming. Bingo with the elderly went well, and afterward, I went to Starbucks. Disaster #3: I told the barista at Starbucks that it was my birthday and she looked at me like I was nuts. I felt really stupid. Like…she gawked at me for a solid 3 minutes, thinking that my name was "birthday." Weirdness #1: Ran into one of my students at Starbucks for the second day in a row. Weirdness #2: That student and I both left Starbucks at the same time and both showed up at the ca...

You know, this was the first birthday in five years that I haven't spent in Fort Worth, so I was a little worried at how it'd go. Fortunately it was amazing. The people in my life are fantastic and I'm so glad to be where I'm at in life. When I blow out those candles I've wished for the same thing for a decade and it has come true every year. One of the things I love about my birthday is that when it's over (which is kind of sad) all I have to do is remind myself that Christmas is right around the corner. 'Tis the season to be merry. So to myself and all of my good friends who have a December birthday; Merry Birthmas!
